For this project at university we were asked to redesign our favourite children's book character for an older target audience. I chose "Big Daft Fish" by Dave Cornmell, which is orignally aimed at pre-school aged children. I redesigned the main character for an audience of 10-12 year old children.

 The character is a blue whale and I was influenced by whaling sketchbooks from the 1800s and traditional scrimshaw for his final look and feel. I also interviewed Cornmell and went on whale watching trips for research for the project.
